If two people have the same problem and pray to the same God for the same thing, how come God appears to NOT answer these prayers in any consistent manner? One person has his/her prayer answered, one does not.

How do you know which religion's version of God is answering which prayer?

How do you know which God to pray to?

When I was a Christian, I prayed for many things. Very few prayers appeared to be linked to that which came true. How do I know if it was God, or my own actions that answered these prayers?

I remember asking God to help me pass my statistics class. Consequently, I did pass the class. Was it God, or the fact that I had a tutor and studied? Curious, becasue I distinctly remember my roomate uttering many prayers. Despite his prayers, he ended up failing the class.

Gemma, perhaps you should pray for God's prayers?

Gemma, I think that praying is a harmless gesture and that your intentions in praying for us or others is out of good will. It means as much as saying good luck or rubbing a rabbits foot. Therefore since there could be a super god who is above and more powerful than the god of the bible, I am going to pray to that super god to abolish the bibilical god. (and allah while he's at it)

I am actually happy that someone is praying to God for me. And I agree there is only one God, who goes by the name of Chango, the sky God. Since Chango is a jealous God I hope you prayed properly. Did you feed the chicken before the sacrificing it? You know how God gets when you pray wrong.

Thank you again, and this weekend I'll buy a live chicken and pray for you, too!!

Why are we in your prayers, and why do you even pray? As was pointed out above and you didn't see fit to address JC said you were to pray in private. Seems to me a bulletin board such as this would be even more public than a street corner. He said people were hypocrites for praying in public. Isn't telling people that you are praying for them in public just as hypocritical?

Also JC said if you are a believer you will receive all you pray for. This clearly isn't true. Mothers pray for their dying children all the time. And they pray for them to live. This should be all the proof any reasonable person would need to know that "nothing fails like prayer" as the Great Agnostic put it.

My minions will be over to kick your infidel ass tomorrow!

(But tonight, we pray for you...)

Edited to add some of these, to demonstrate my rightous indignation:

You are in a state of mortal sin. To die in a state of mortal sin, according to Catholic theology, warrants eternal damnation. (Of course, I cannot think for God or make decisions for Him; that in itself is sinful.)

I care deeply about you all -- for you are human beings. I would not wish hell on anyone. It isn't a joke. St. Teresa of Avila said she would die a thousand times over to save a single soul from hell.

I pray for God's will.
