We might as well oppose leaving those hunks of metal there though, because you know the Xian-fundies would never allow a Muslim or Atheist symbol to put at the memorial.

An atheist symbol would be interesting to say the least.

I agree. That's why we need to demand to be included. If we just let christians have their way so they won't get mad, a generation from now they will claim that the founding fathers wanted the cross there!

How's about Adrian Barnett's suggestion for an atheist symbol? This would be a great time to actually *get* an universal symbol for atheism.

I don't have time to find the link right now, but it's my understanding that the American Atheists logo is officially recognized by the govt. as far as using it on veteran's graves.

It can be found here

4. Therefore, god's divine righteousness, as plainly seen by the cross, is the reason behind the whole act.

If I was a xtian, I would BEG to have that cross removed, but, then again, we are speaking logically.

Along those lines is another reason why I wouldn't mind having the "memorial cross" debris remain:

"Yes, tell me again about your loving, caring, compassionate, all-powerful god!"

the real problem will come when next year every town in the US will want a replica of the WTC cross in front of the it's courthouse and city hall. How then will we be able to stop them if we allow this to go thru?
