My family owns a bird, we're well aware of the eye-poppingly annoying sounds they can make over and over and over and over....

He's adorable though, which has probably saved him from a thorough neck-wringing countless times.

Here outside my window at work there is a male cardinal who has now been here for several days.

In the windows of my office he apparently sees his reflection and mistakes it for another bird in his territory. He has been attacking my windows ALL FUCKING MORNING and it is begining to make me twitch uncontrollably.

Peck. Peck. THUNK. Peck. PeckPeck. THUNK. THUNK. THUNK.

Where in IPU's name is the mother of all slingshots when I need it?

You see, we thought it would be lovely and restful to have some fresh air, especially since there are about twelve days a year when the weather permits open windows all night.

I think the little bastard was out in one of the Bradford Pear trees on our front lawn, just outside our bedroom window. And he really had an amazing array of sounds!

But yes, woodpeckers are worse. At least earplugs muffled him enough I finally got back to sleep.

My parents had a whipporwill (sp?) nest right under their bedroom window for a week or so. They're night birds (call from 11pm-3am) and you can hear one from at least a half mile away.
