Leeches are still used in medicine today also, as are maggots, for example when treating relcalcitrant bone-marrow infections.

But the most common clinical use for leeches is the treatment of facial bruising in young women a couple of weeks before their wedding-day. This is not a joke.

P.S. You can get silicone testicular prostheses that would be much lighter and less awkward than the old-fashioned bulky ones you are using now. There is even some experimental work on ones with slow-release testosterone to counter the hormone deficiencies.
