SARS has nothing to do with end off times , but rather with overpopulation, and doubtfull hygienical habits.
If one travels through Soutern China, one cannot but be amazed of the close proximity on the farms of people, pigs, duck, geeze and fish, all dabbing in each others excrement. And with over-population.
When going to the markets, one cannot but be amazed looking at the life animals for sale for food. Not because there is a shortage but because they have a perceived medical value, or just because it is chique.
Some of these anaimals I had never seen before, and some I will never see anymore, bceause the one on display was the last one of its kind.
And if you think that SARS was serious, it was not. The plague in Europe, killed 1/3rd of the population. They think that the Spanish flue in 1919 killed 23 million people, and every day in the Phillippines 75 people die of Tuberculosis.
The Philippines is such a religious place they surely should be spared from this kind of stuff. Ho yes, wait a minute, they are mostly catholic. Thats the wrong kind of xians for the rapture idiots.
Just to say that all these perceived problems have nothing to do with the end of times. (and we should never forget that a flue in Inner Mongolia is big news today, but would have gone virtually un-noticed 20 years ago until millions had sucumbed). Meaning that information gathering has improved so much.
But watch the US president. He surely is doing his best.

And the non-evolving fundies who refuse to be vaccinated against anything will be the first to go... Bye Bye!!:notworthy

Why didn't I think of this!! It will solve itself. There will be no rapture. They will just die from something simple.

I received an email with the following link the other day. The Left Behind guys seem to think we're near the end. They mention both SARS and Iraq. :banghead:

End of times

It is easy to magnify contemporary problems of the world & blow them out of proportion. Cumulatively SARS, AIDS, & Ebola still haven't killed as many people as the Black Plague did in only 20 years.
Right, there's disease and wars all the time. The diseases have just evolved as people keep saying.

Also I think there's a good deal of truth to that old adage: "The more things change, the more they stay the same."
Good album! (by the way)

I concur.

The end of the world is coming. I think it will occur in several billion years, when the sun finally loses enough mass that it expands into a red giant and engulfs the earth. Our planet will be vaporized. But unless we've developed the technology to avoid it, the species Homo sapiens likely will be extinct by then. As I understand it, all known species seem to exist for several millions of years, and then go extinct. Are we an exception?

Hey what's with all this science mumbo jumbo?

Yeah, sure in billions of years the world will end. Jesus won't come back, so I guess we can all go around raping and murdering because there's no consequences for our actions. Look at me I can do whatever I want I don't need no God telling me I can't do whatever the hell I feel like, no matter who gets hurt!

Anyway, I'm glad there's been some good repsonses to this. I know that I SHOULDN'T worry about this stuff. I'm an adult now, I KNOW it sounds ridiculous. I've spent enough time at these boards to finally be able to look at christianity objectively. But in the back of my head, I'm still that scared kid who cried after watching Late Great Planet Earth with Orson Welles. Maybe that kid will read these replies and not worry so much about mythical doom.

Actually, this is the time of year for pillaging and plundering. One never rapes and murders in a month without an 'r" in it.

Besides, people were raping and murdering before JC showed up; they did so while he was here; and they continued after he left. Fat lot of good he did.

Wars, diseases, plagues, famines… all manner of disasters, both natural and man-made, have been a part of life since the beginning, and they always will be. The doomsayers, especially those who profit from it, will beat the End Times drum for all the money and attention that can garner. They've bben doing it for 2,000 years. It’s much ado about nothing.

Don't you think that during the Black Plague, when entire villages were wiped out, people were convinced that the end times were here? By comparison, what is happening today is not that big a deal.
