My just turned 9 year old daughter has taken up baking. I hate baking!

Anyway, she started off by wanting those "just add an egg and some water" cake mixes, and kept wanting them. So 3 days ago I decided that it was too expensive to for her to bake that way, and as school starts again next week I'd buy the necessary baking ingredients to help her make some goodies to take to school with her lunch. Well. It seems she only needs my help to clean up after her!

For two days now, she's woken up VERY early and baked a cake and some biscuits before I've even woken up. Just found the recipes she was keen on, studied them hard and worked it all out. Viola! Cake for breakfast!

This has got to stop!!

I dont think I can express to you just how funny I find the idea of you raising a little martha stewart. Its like family ties on crack. I mean so incredibly funny.

You should worry so much...

A neighbour kid of just 7 years has repeatedly marched into my kitchen (on one occasion almost breaking one of my ribs) together with her 10-year-old friend to cook on my stove.

Since the two have very little idea of how to cook, it can be very annoying.

Perhaps if you leave them no clean dishes then they don't have anything to cook with?

When I was that age, I was making my own recipies out of things like Oil and Gasoline. It's a miracle I never burned our house down... It was easier to play with the matches outside anyway.

oh how awful, you poor woman, a child who is doing something so destructive as baking cakes!

my advice? you sit and eat the benefits, it'll wear off
