You know, I really thought that Christians would actually like to share what their beliefs have done for them. This lack of response leads me to believe that belief in Christ changes nothing.
I wouldn't say that - it's just that they know if they try and explain it we'll all start trying to burst their bubbles with all these tedious rational arguments. Either that or just shriek with laughter. I posted a question similar to this on a xian board once and all I got was a string of atheists taking the piss. You can get more of an understanding just by reading the posts from newly 'saved' people in places like the baptist boards. They sound like so many lobotomised hyenas, ranting joyfully over the merits their new hobby (praising the lord) compared to their old ones (watching porn or whatever). Sure it changes their personality. Nobody was as potty as that before, were they?

Potty? Sorry, I only speak American.

And judging from what those new converts were like, they seem like Communism's New Man.

I suppose.. I really didn't want to hear the gushing of the new converts, I just wanted to hear what some of the mature Christians would say. When I was a Christian, I thought I had changed, but I don't really think I did. I think I had to keep lying to myself. I wasn't sure if what I experienced was even real. I was just hoping that some of the Christians would give their testimonies. I wasn't planning on insulting, but I guess I cannot control the actions of other posters. I just know that when I was a Christian, I would have boldly posted my testimony as a witness to Christ. I guess that being in an atheist board makes people more lukewarm.

You know, blondegoddess, there is a philosopher (I can't remember his name), who used this to argue against xianity. He said that xianity makes postive testable claims. The fact that in the history of xianity, there have been very few, if any, noticable changes in behavior, the claims of xianity must be false.

Personally, I was changed more from reading "The Demon Haunted World" than anything else.

It is impossible for us to find Christ because Christ must find us. We are the sheep and must be lost before we can be found. The worst we can do is think we are lost and go look for Christ because Christ will never become an asset to us while we are lost. Instead, we must be led to the place where Christ can become known to us and this is why Mary (personal Mary) must lead us to the place where we can give an account of ourselves.

You are wrong if you think that we must actively find Christ.

Thank you Amos. I'll take the liberty of rephrasing Beth's question as I think you've missed her point:

I was wondering how much your behavior/personality has changed since Christ found you.- Or haven't you changed?

A lot of people say they 'found Christ'. You say 'Christ found you'. But the point is, whichever way round it happened, how has it changed you? I hope that clarifies.

Maybe it is just the way all the atheists have been talking. Maybe no one changes. Oh well, so much for hoping....
Anyone check to see if there's been a rapture or some such?

I have my eye on that baptist mega-church down the street with the hot tub.

No offense bg, but you'd probably get more answers if you asked this in a place where there are more Christians. I've heard lots and lots of "it totally changed my life" accounts from Christians. There are many out there who are convinced that it did. But probably not that many in here...

Anyway, yes, my life changed a lot. At the time it meant a lot to me to hear there was Someone out there who loved me, cared about me, wanted to help me with my life and that I could know that person. It was not a hard decision for me at the time, to turn my life over to Someone like that.

I don't really want to discuss it any further here. I know that most people here probably will accept me saying it changed my life but will have their own interpretations of why it did. That's ok with me; it's up to them what they think.
