i once had a chat to a mailman about dogs. funly enough while holding my puppies back. he said he had no problems with a single dog. it was only when they were in a pack that they bothered him. i think it was because they tended to flank him on both sides if there was more than one.

My dad is a letter carrier. He says that he does have problems with dogs. He said that some dogs don't take too kindly to uniforms.

I don't know why that is, but every dog I have owned has reacted similarly to men in uniforms. Perhaps it is because they are most likely to be unknown and unannounced visitors trespassing on their terriroty and dogs are simply acting as they should: to protect their territory and family from intruders.

Also, certain actions and certain situations elicit specific actions from our dobie. We don't know why, but he hates the sound of a motorcycle. He goes berserk! He also does not like uniformed men reaching into their pockets for a pen. Joggers will get barked at as well, but the one thing he hates with a passion are squirrels! I think they must have taunted him when he was chained outside at his last owners home

My father and I were driving home yesterday and I saw a dog that was run over lying on the sidewalk. It just lay there and I thought it was the most beautiful yet heart-wrenching moments I've experienced.
