This would be a good point except for one small yet crucial distinction: we have things called spell checkers now.

If the idjids realized that the "ist" ending is a suffix, they'd know that the i-before-e rule doesn't apply. BTW, has anyone ever seen "thiest" in the same post with "athiest"?
