It was my understanding that atheists lacked belief in a god or gods and have no more proof of their non-existence as you do that your god/gods do exist.

Apparently you haven't been around enough to see that the factual claim that God is a myth, and doesn't exist is used more often than the claim that Atheists have no belief in him and can't say whether he does or doesn't. Its always " God's a myth", "God doesn't exist", "Heaven and Hell aren't real". Those aren't the opinions of someone with no belief, those are the factual declarations of someone who has chosen a side on the matter.

Magus, I feel you still haven't answered how you justify saying something like this:

followed by this:

As pointed out by PandaJoe - the former says he barely has any power, and is suffering in eternal torment like anyone else. Then you say that God is fighting him, and that all sin comes from him - a powerless being fighting for sin, whilst tied to a lake of fire. He must be pretty powerful to be any sort of opposition to God whilst having both hands tied behind his back.
Perhaps you should read better before replying? I said Satan will bound in the Lake of Fire. Satan isn't bound yet, he is in Hell atm, and still has access to the world. Hell and the Lake of Fire are two different places ( we just use them interchangeably).

And where did i say he doesn't have barely any power? I said Satan doesn't have that kind of power, in response to the post i replied to. Satan isn't omnipotent, but he is still the master of lies and deception.

Also, where did you get the idea that Satan was any kind of match for God? Certaintly not from my post. Satan can't do anything to God himself. Satan's only form of attack is against God's creation, because he knows he can't touch God, and last time he tried, he ended up where he is now.

God is already the victor. Satan knows he will never win against God, and he knows his time is short - so hes making last ditch efforts to corrupt and lure away from God, as many people as possible.

Where will non-Christian humans end up, the Lake of Fire or Hell?

It is perfectly valid to say that a particular defined God (i.e. your Christian god and its heaven and hell) is mythical and to claim it doesn't exist if there's absolutely no evidence that it does exist, the evidence we see contradicts the "story" of that God in the book men wrote where his definition is derived from, and the definition of that God includes contradictory attributes.

As an atheist, I can assert with confidence that the Christian definition of God gleaned from the Bible does not exist, and is a myth, a man-made deity. However, I, like most other atheists, don't positively claim that no gods exist; I admit the (remote) possiblity that some god may exist, but I'm confident enough that the Christian god doesn't exist to just come out and say he doesn't exist.

So, indeed, those are the "opinions" of someone that lacks belief in god(s). And I'll continue to lack belief in god(s) until I see evidence to support the existence of a god.

At least we have eyewitness evidence they exist. We also have books which were writeen by them and not merely dictated to others.

How can God torture me in Hell when I don't have a physical body?? ----Lin Yutang, The Importance of Living, 1936.

Here comes one of the great quotes of my life:

"All I know is that if God loves me half as much as my mother does, He will not send me to Hell. This is a simple fact of my existence."

---Lin Yutang, The Importance of Living, 1936.

==========
Sidebar: I've already been thru Hell on earth, and lots of other people have had far worse things happen to them, than what's happened to me, through no fault of thier own.

The bad shit that happened to me was either random stuff , or intentional by other peopel. It had nothing to do with my actions.

I've already been thru Hell on earth. That imaginary hell holds no terrors for me.

I'm serious.

Magus55:
"I will never understand why atheists, who are so adamant against a hypothetical god, and know for a fact that he doesn't exist, constantly argue and fight over and over making the same stupid, sarcastic arguments which are meaningless to the theists here ( at least the Christians)."
I say:
"More than God's benevolence, hell, or the concept of hell, is Christianity's prime attraction. There is nothing more profitable in this world than feeding on people's fear. I'm not surprise that the Klan is able to put the entire state officials of Indiana under its payroll during the 50's and 60's. Equally, I'm not surprised that the Catholic Church is the richest institution in the world.
So if we are adamant about a hypothetical God, we should all the more be adamant at a hypothetical hell, for hell is the instrument used to dupe people for centuries. Hell is the instrument used to scare and frighten people for centuries. It isn't odd, in fact, it is natural that burning at the stake was the preferred method during the dark ages.
If somehow an atheist worthy of that title should ever put an end to this concept of hell, it is assured that the concept of God would soon follow. But as for now, we lesser atheists should content ourselves with making the concept of hell less offensive by humoring it."

So satan has the power to have a guy perform miracles, claim he was the son of god and say the law of Moses was over? You're right, that would corrupt and lure as many people as possible away from the Hebrew god. As soon as you have satan, the "master of lies", you can't believe anything! The whole bible could be work of satan.

The reason why there is no mention of the fall of satan in the OT is because the Jews would not have been stupid enough to act like god can't even control his angels. The whole point of angels is that they are just messengers and they don't have free will. Having a rebellion in heaven is ridiculous. What were the angels thinking? "I'm tired of this omnipotent god and living in his glorious heaven... I know! let's kick his ass!"
