I've seen a few episodes of "Father Ted" and can't really imagine it working here.

Down with this indeed!
Did anyone see the pilot for the remake of Red Dwarf?
The cat was FEMALE!

Talk about missing the point.

Just FYI... Jeremy Brett and he was fantastic. I'm gonna pick up his biography one day. Here is a link to all episodes on DVD
mods... could you fix the link to give credit?

We do lame up the remakes here, don't we? Again, having lived in England for awhile, I fell in love with many shows that just wouldn't work here. Father Ted was one of them. I just can't see it. I keep the sound byte of Dougal's first description of the Beast of the Moors on my computer at all times and it never fails to crack me up... "and instead of a mouth, it's got four arses!" And they never show that episode on BBC America (at least when I'm watching).

The only show I can think of that did much better here than I'd have expected was "Survivor" (which I've never seen). Wasn't it called "Castaway" in England?

How can you have Coupling without a mad Welsh Geoff (or Jeff, or however they spelt it). Madness. And as for remaking Father Ted: no. Just no.

I think they're both based on a Swedish format.

Well they won't be able to make an American version of So Graham Norton!
