Default labels

Am I the only person who couldn't care whether people are labelled as being 'cool' or geekish? In my mind, 'cool' people are insecure in that they place their worth in being cool. Geeks feel bad as they lack the confidence to be themselves.

If I had my way, there would be no cool or nerdy people.

That's all very sweet, but weren't you the same one who proposed violence as a valid solution for being heckled on the street, ie. name calling?

I say BOO to all marginalization(sp?) of our earths peoples. We have it so set up that every one can be pigeonholed into a few labels. Im a/an
Athiest
tattooed
musician
cancer survivor
angry white male :P
(or some would say since I dont like 'the system')
right handed
goofy footed (on my skateboard if you didnt know)
a computer nerd
an artist
Plaese label me more, make it so that people can decide they do or do not want to know me on the labels we all put on ourselves and others..
Is this a rant?

Be Well

So do you want to do away with just the label or the actual personality types?

I for one call myself a geek (or nerd) not because I'm socially inept (I am) but because of my obsession with computers, math, science, etc.

Ah. I was so relieved, when I entered college, to see the whole "cool" thing vanish. Maybe it still exists with frats, but since I'm an animation major... EVERYONE is dorky and we all get along.

High School is evil.

I don't care if they are, either. However, I don't want to do away with those labels. I find the suckers who put stock in such labels endlessly entertaining

Indeed you are not. People are what they make themselves, in my opinion. That or they are a product of their environment. Just because someone isn't as one would like them to be or isn't "cool" by anothers standards doesn't make them less of a person.

*shrugs* People can be cool, or they can be geeks. If some of them think the former option is the better one, that's their problem.
