1. Your "zone out" song that makes you realize exactly what's important in this world.
Hmmm... dunno. 2. Your catharsis (rage) song. "Piss On The Wall" (J Geils Band) 3. Your libido song. "Free Bird" (The Eagles) 4. Your song that's so beautiful it hurts to listen to it. "Sometimes When We Touch" Dan Hill Yeah, I like the old shit. ![]() |

1. Zone Out Song: Arabesque No. 1, by Claude Debussy. Dreamy and sweet.
2. Catharsis/Rage Song: Throwing Stones, by Paula Cole (especially at the end when she shrieks, "Call me a bitch in heat/And I'll call you a motherfucker") 3. Libido Song: Ripopgodazippa, by Prince. He's not a big favorite of mine, but that song works me over. 4. So Beautiful It Hurts Song: Un Bel Di, preferably when sung by Kiri Te Kanawa. By the way, I love so many of the other answers . . . y'all have great taste in music! |

I think I slice these categories a bit differently from others, e.g. #1 & #4. But I'll try to go along:
1. Your "zone out" song that makes you realize exactly what's important in this world. Nyama Yekugocha by Thomas Mapfumo and the Blacks Unlimited (it's on Chamunorwa) 1st Brandenburg Concerto by Bach (but only if it's played right) 2. Your catharsis (rage) song. Garbage Man by Hole I've also written a few which vent my spleen effectively. 3. Your libido song. You can't beat the Rolling Stones catalogue from Beggar's Banquet through Sticky Fingers. Pelvic thrusts, anyone? 4. Your song that's so beautiful it hurts to listen to it. Bach's 2nd Organ Sonata has some amazing moments in the 3rd movement. I'm currently hung up on Christine Fellowes' "Bird as Prophet". And if you haven't heard the cover of "Desperado" from the Langley Schools Music Project ("Innocence and Despair") listen to the clip on Amazon. |

(SharonDee...I don't recall the Eagles covering Skynyrd's "Freebird"...
![]() 1: Buffett (99% of it) 2: Steve Miller "Jungle Love" - usually whilst driving with the windows down...or "Roxanne" by the Police 3: Hmmm...some older Sting 4: Cold Missouri Waters 5: CSN&Y "Southern Cross", The Eagles 6: Good question....still pondering it 7: ditto that. Mozart is usually good for contemplative times, as is the artist in #4. There is such a variance in Buffett's music over the past...25+ years it can change my mood when I'm down. -k "also stuck on the old music" |

Star Me Kitten, REM. Although I seem to be in a minority I find Michael Stipe's voice in this song to be such a total turnon. Moreso than usual ![]() Suspicion also by REM, which is strange, given that the song really doesn't deal with sex at all. I just find the music really sensual. Quote:
