Sabine, my only point is that Gemma has been deceitful, dishonest, inflamatory, and non-responsive for many, many months. Perhaps I'd like her around if she at least was entertaining. I find her to be among the least insightful theists around here. I'm certain that she's a good person, though.

For one in her vocation she seems to have an awful lot of time to spend here. I'm by no means sure that she isn't a troll.

I previously stated I have not yet joined the community.

I am currently a college freshman.

Deceitful? Please cite examples.
Dishonest? Please cite examples.
Inflamatory? If it is to make a point, yes.
Non-responsive? I do have a life. I try to answer most of the questions thrown at me on multiple threads. (I usually ignore vulgur, disrespectful, or if the poster is trying to "bait" me.)

When I stand before God on judgement day, and He looks at my life and says, "What a mess!", Jesus will come to my aid and say, "But Father, despite everything, she defended Me."
I remember my bible story, and it's about the ladies who came knocking at the door late at night.

"Open up the door, O Lord," said Gemma, "It is I Gemma."
"I do not know you," answered Jesus.
"But I defended you, O Lord." said Gemma.
"...in the internet." replied an incredulous Jesus.

Truth is Truth, regardless of where it appears.

Why? If some one is sincerely ignorant they should have no expectations of respect. Do you have respect for people who believe the earth is flat. Do you have respect for people who are ignorant of germ theory and don't bother to wash their hands after they take a crap? I don't believe you do. You will try to inform them of germ theory or find some other way to get them to wash their hands. But you will not respect them in their ignorance or else why would you try and change their behavior?

If they are truly ignorant that the earth is round and sincerely believe it is falt, they still deserve respect. Schu, I would bet you respect Native Americans even though they believe in the "Great Spirit," right? What is the difference? Perhaps people's beliefs do not deserve much respect, but saying "Your beliefs are foolish" is far more civil than saying "You are a fool."

It someone really knows better and lies, or is hypocritical in their thinking and behavior, they deserve no respect. I do not believe GT falls into that ilk. One can hardly call her inconsistent, in any case.

This is actually not a bad point about the Native Americans. I think there must be a different perception about them. Firstly I don't think they are comparable to the flat earth people. There at least isn't scientific evidence against their Great Spirit, whereas the flat earters have a plethora of scientific proof that the earth is a sphere. Secondly, from what I have seen, the Native Americans' is not an oppresive religion, and they don't preach to other groups about their religion, as its very specific to them. Also, I think their religion is far less oppressive, and they don't have all the hideous contradictions that other major religions do. I couldn't really see any Native American turning up at your door trying to convince you you're going to hell if you don't join them.
