sort of like the old joke: A girl can find a guy who's kind, sensitive, sweet, caring,... but he's probably already got a boyfriend.

Over the years I've noticed that when people consider others 'shallow' it's often they don't understand their culture, music, social circles, customs. Since they don't understand the dynamics involved, it does appear shallow, but that's often in the mind of the beholder.

And besides, all generalizations are false.

When you say "shallow" are you referring to vanity?

If so then I'd say yes, though I wouldn't use a loaded word like "shallow".

Gays do tend to be a lot more particular about making themselves attractive than most straights, but with the growing metrosexual trend maybe we'll catch up.

Oh, well if that is what was meant by shallow, I would probably say yes as well. Probably roughly as "shallow" (not really the right word) as women are on average.

No, it is not true or acurate to state that gay men are more shallow than straights. Why would you even think to ask such a thing?

If so, is there any explanation as to why?
On the surface it might seem so. Straight sexual intercourse is usually vaginal, while gay sexual intercourse is usually anal, and an anus is certainly shallower than a vagina, at least the parts you can thrust a penis into. But this is really comparing apples and oranges (or tuna and fudge). The female anus is, on average, shallower than the male anus, so it is inaccurate to say gay men are more shallow than straight women. And if we're talking about oral sex, again the male oral cavity is, on average, wider and deeper than the female oral cavity.

I'm not sure where lesbian fist-vaginal sex fits into this argument, as I don't know enough about it. I'm sure there are II members who are in a position to share such information, however.

I have no problem with shallowness in that everybody judges on looks to some degree.

So, it seems by "shallow" you mean "judges others on looks"?
