I hate to dig up an old thread, (he he he?)
But would Xian be kind enough to post the proof of his supernatural powers for us skeptics to read. Or is he gonna admit to "lying" in his OP and that he doesn't have supernatural powers. He's simply a semi-intelligent guy who can post questions of a religious and skeptical nature to people and determine from the results of a questionnaire that's of an obviously religious/moral nature and determine whether or not they believe in God. The only way to truly determine this ability would be a blind test where Xian didn't know whether the receivers of his test were theists or atheists and where able to determine within his 80% ability that they were atheists. I assume you've got evidence of that at least Xian? Despite the fact that the test is loaded in ridiciluous ways, any idiot could guess atheists from theists based on their answers to questions like abortion, origins of life and the universe, existence of absolute morals. Ask enough questions where religoius beliefs are important and any fuckwit could identify religious people from non-religious people with a high degree of confidence. So Xian, where's you're hardcore proof of your "supernatural" belief. Or do you admit you were merely winding us up. Troll or no troll Xian, the choice and proof is in your hands..... Let's see it. Duck! |

Ad Nauseum
Alright, I have sat and read all 11 pages, and I think I have distilled what the whole thing was about, and why it died:
xian was ultimately trying to show that athiests have faith in something, and by his definition of faith in his own reality he is right. The athiests are having a hard time understanding that to xian, the invisible sky daddy is just as proven a fact to him and easy to have "faith" in as the athiest has "faith" that his alarm clock will work(though there have been mornings it didn't work for me despite its usual operation). Xian in his experience has "statistical data" to support his faith, just as athiests rely on the statistical data of experience. Because of this paradox never the twain shall meet until such time either an athiest has a religious experience, or xian has an event of similar magnitude that shatters his faith. Overall, this discourse only helped me to more solidly express my athiest attitude, probably not xian's intent |

Interesting observations, Randi.
One of the things I have learned on my visits to Infidels is that Belief in gods is synonymous with Certainty of gods. God is as real to the believer as the sun in the sky, the tree in the garden, the bogey in the nose. Unbelievers are therefore a form of abomination, refusing to see that which is before their very eyes, and doing so out of sheer wickedness. This wickedness has traits which are detectable to the very perceptive, as xian undoubtedly is, and hence his ability to identify atheists simply by their answers to a set of cunningly-devised questions. I think we should put our hands up now, stand again the wall and say all together: “It’s fair cop.” |
