I would also like to hear what this parable is supposed to mean. Yes, that makes it easy. Do you enjoy making things difficult?

Yes, but that has nothing to do with this. Either you can explain the point of your "parable" or you can't.

A vague, imprecise arguement, analogy, or metaphor only points to someone whose afraid to talk about their theory. I read that damned thing three times, and I see no damned point made. A couple that COULD be made, but they're mutually exclusive and all rather weird. Give it over, Tinman, and tell us wtf you're talking about.

I have to agree with everyone else, I don't see what you're trying to show. You present a hypothetical, and I can see about 4 different, but *very* weak, points you could be making, 3 of which are orthoginal.

No, actually - mid 40s baby boomer with a tertiary degree and an IQ in the Mensa range. Since you ask.

Perhaps the problem is yours....

What elwoodblues and rimstalker said.

Are you a postmodernist "scholar" by any chance?

(edited because I may be a genius but I can't type)

This makes no sense at all. Perhaps Tinman and Amos should get together.

Yeah, Tinman and Amos would make very nice bedfellows. Two mythmakers. Ha!

Imagine a world where men are made of Tin and the tins make vague statements that are unrealistic and then they sit back like tins in a box and watch with glee as other tins strive to make sense out of their meaningless drivel.

In high school, I used to pass around a blank piece of paper and challenge people to read what I had written on the paper using water. You should have seen them straining their eyes. "Just relax, look slowly and you will notice the words", I'd urge them. And they took deep breaths, composed themselves and tried again. Then they'd ask me "what is written ón the paper?"

And you know what I told them?

Imagine a world very much like our own, except there are people there who talk out of their asses. Oh wait a minute, I don't have to imagine.
