Well, my garage currently contains:
1. a 1982 Yamaha TT250 2. a 1988 Suzuki GSX 600 3. a 1996 Yamaha Virago At my advanced age, I find myself moving more and more from sport bikes to cruisers for personal use, but I still drool over RC51's. ![]() |

Who's the squid in the 2nd picture?
My bike is not a true crotch rocket: ![]() P.S. I like all kinds of motorcycles. In addition to the FZ1, I have an old Magna, two dirtbikes, and a dualsport. |

Would anybody here buy a Dodge Tomahawk ? I'm not a motorcycle fan, and I'm just flabbergasted by the prospect of a cycle with a Viper engine...

I have a 1988 BMW R100GS, big black and yellow bumblebeemer. Fun bike, but certainly not a crotch rocket.
I've always lusted over vintage Vincents, but have never even come close to having the cash for one. But... Speaking of RC51's... That guy did what I would have done, if I had that kind of fortune. I actually wrote to Ross Perot back in the mid-80's asking if he was interesting in funding just such a project. I love the styling on the American Vincent bike. I wish they would also make the modern reproduction of the air-cooled twin, too. They'd sell a bunch of them. -Kelly |

"Oh man, I thought you were talking about shooting fireworks off in your pants! " Well, there can be a somewhat similar feeling on occasion!! ![]() A V-Max? Oh, man, one of my all-time favorites!! Test rode one a few years back, but the involuntary third-gear wheelie on the freeway on-ramp (and subsequent need for a change of underwear) convinced me that I would have been waaaay over my head (doggone right hand just doesn't listen when my brain says no) !! ![]() Keep the rubber side down!! |

Kelly,
You can buy all the parts for the Vincent engine, and probably for the chassis, without difficulty. The VOC and others have the engine parts in manufacture, and several people have tried to get updated Vincents (original or modified-original engines) into production but no one has managed to successfully pull it off. I'd like to see Bernard Li leave the Vincent alone and come up with his own name for the new bike he's hoping to make. There isn't any continuity between his bike and the originals. It's like buying the rights to Da Vinci's name and putting the Mona Lisa back into production, and by the way the new Mona Lisa is a photo of Britney Spears. New Norton singles and twins, Matchless singles, BSA Goldstars, etc can be put together from entirely or almost entirely newly manufactured parts. cheers, Michael |
