Post Musicians here

I'd like to have a listen to your music if you have any. Particularly if it's something antireligious.

My music doesn't deal with religion much, but I wouldn't mind some opinions on it anyway. You can listen to it here: http://www.mp3.com.au/artist.asp?id=11116

I have a few comments from a record producer's standpoint.

The song is missing quite a lot. There is simply guitar and vocals which can get old after about 2 and a half minutes. If you want to keep it longer, try adding something to change the pace of the song, such as some stringed instruments or percussion.

It would also be well served during the chorus parts, to add an additional vocal track. Doing some overdubs, perhaps harmonies.

Overall though the talent is very good and I liked the feel of the song, save the shortcomings I already mentioned.

Keep after it!

Record producer? Where the hell were you when I had a band?

I'll try to post a couple of tunes. Wish me luck with this "computer stuff."

Here's a few from my old band, all recorded in the drummer's basement, right before we broke up. I played bass and sang the occasional backing vocal, but I don't think I sang on any of these. No atheistic lyrics here, sorry.

Brand New Part
Lost Magic
Contemplate the Day

I have a few more to dig up, unless everyone really hates the music .

Purple Monkey Dishwasher, I really like your voice !

Topane...

Pretty good songs overall...I liked the main guitar hook in Lost Magic.

The songs do seem to lack an overall structure though. In most cases you want to lead the listener through your music. Not just leave them guessing. This makes them lose interest.

Vocally I like what he's doing, except for the constant "two vocal track sound." That makes the vocals sound bland and repetitive. As I mentioned to the first poster, it helps to keep things varied.

I know you aren't in this band anymore...just some things to keep in mind for the next group!

Cool

Well, seeing as there is a record producer in the house, I thought I'd post a link to a friend's band.

I'll have to come back to listen to the others later in the day. Must get me to school now.

I haven't had the pleasure of being in a band myself, but I've alway been surrounded by musicians.

My brothers' band: the Rolling Blackouts
rock n' roll

My friends' band: Exhausted Prayer
Black Metal

edit..this post is in reference to lunachicks posting

Hmm...interesting sound this band has.

I really liked the second song, hijack the sun...Had a good groove with the wah guitars and bass line. I liked the vocal style as well, contrasted well with music. Sounded almost like a lounge style(vocally I mean)

The first song listed was decent, though the hook reminded me way too much of Hashpipe by Weezer. Have to be careful about sounding too similar to other acts.

Overall, I was pretty impressed. Definently not commercial by today's standards, but still something that stands out somehwhat.
