They made Yoda look ridiculous.
In my opinion it would have been cool if Yoda had just stood calmly, leaning on his cane, while his using his force powers to cause his light sabre to fight Dooku on its own. It would have been more in line with what we know about him, and also shown that there's more to light sabre fighting than gymnastics.

I'm not sure that blasting faceless stormtroopers with ray guns in an enviroment that appears to be free from moral consequences is entirely in keeping with this statement.

But hey what do I know!

Hmmm, storm troopers, empire, vader, dark side. anger, hate...rescuing a princess (a rather feminist princess, who rescues the rescuers), self-sacrifice for others, redemption for evil...yes, I can see how it's free of moral consequences.

Star Wars may not be high drama, but it's hardly free of morality.

You say "tomato" and I say "tomato"
You say "it's moral" and I say "it's bollocks"
"Tomato", "tomato", "it's moral", "it's bollocks"
Let's call the whole thing orrrff!

Although I don't think the Stargate movie was terrible, I certainly agree the SG1 series far surpasses it. The movie was merely the stepping stone to introduce everything.
I'd say Babylon 5 is the true standard by which tv scifi should weigh itself.

gar, you'll have to come over some day and we'll pop in any episode and mecilessly tear it apart. it is easy enough to do. my family and i have great fun making sport of some of the sillier aspects of the story devices. it seems to have moved from innocent camp to full blown ego-mania as the episodes progress.

just goes to show you how writing has lagged behind technology through the years. i guess its a gift as opposed to a craft.
