Looks like the captain wants to avoid defining "kind". Has anyone ever found a creationist that will do this?

Re: Having some fun on a new board.
*sigh*
What a load of dingo's kidneys. My impression, after reading more than a dozen threads, is that all the creationists there seem to be cast in the Johnsonian mold of claiming that there's some covert atheistic conspiracy in the 'libuhrul media' which silences the downtrodden creationist in his unbiased quest for Truth. :boohoo: Actually producing evidence thus takes a backseat to whining about the 'materialist dogma' (no doubt it is even materialist dogma to demand evidence from the peer reviewed journals, when we should allow for special revelation). :banghead: What on earth attracted you to this board? |

I've met many who are willing to define kind after I present my evidence and attribute whatever evidence I've provided to "microevolution within a 'kind.' " In one case, a creationist I was discussing evolution with would answer all my biochemical arguments with the claim it was all evolution within a kind. Thus he eventually worked his 'microevolution' all the way up to the kingdom level (did you know that the conservation of developmental genes across phyla is evidence of microevolution of the "animal kind"?). He left before I could inquire, based on the commonality of many biochemical pathways, whether or not there was a "living things" kind. |

Has anyone checked the quote that was posted and attributed to Dr. Scott Todd. I did a quick google and all the refs were from AIG and the like. A search on Nature's site got a hit, but I am not a subscriber and couldn't look at the entire article. Just wondering if they are taking something out of context yet again.

Oh, they still give prelims/comps alright. I just took mine and they were a nightmare all the way. To anyone who is going to take them: good luck and try not to go insane. |

I'm a new poster, so this childish comparision is probably a good way to discredit myself right off the bat, but does the avatar for that Socrates guy on the TheologyWeb board remind anyone else of the infamous Dr. Zaius from the original 'Planet of the Apes' films?
Photo for comparision: Even better, Zaius (the Minister of Science/Chief Defender of the Faith) says fun things like "there is no contradiction between faith and science -- true science" that kind of remind me of Socrates' posting demeanor. I admit that it is an odd comparision (and I'm pretty sure the pic is actually supposed to be everybody's favorite Greek) but for the life of me I can't help but think of Zaius whenever I see that guy's avatar and read his infuriating posts... Sorry for the senseless diversion. -Ike- |
