Thumbs down Re: Re: Heck yeah! in fact, the KKK was really just trying to make some new friends...

You disappoint me, Loren; your post claimed that Jackson had done more harm to Blacks than the KKK, and it was to that asssertion that I was responding.

You have yet to substantiate your claim with any factual data btw; at least I posted some that was directly related to what you had claimed.

I'm not even going to dignify this fallacious (i.e., Two Wrongs Make A Right, Special Pleading, etc.) remark with any further response.

Quote:
Just out of interest; did you read the link I posted earlier in this thread, relating to the black arrests in Tulia, Texas?
Nope. Why? Because it's irrelevant to the OP. What happens in Tulia, TX has no affect on what happens in this town. They are a thousand + miles apart!

Quote:
Tell me, do you think no-evidence, racially-based arrests happen elsewhere in the US?
Red herring...stick to the subject of the OP and the town/state it is clearly referring to.

Quote:
Do you think that kid may have been a victim of police harrassment and had any previous charges trumped up to make them worse than they really are?
Would of...Could of...Should of... all irrelevant unless one or the other or all can be proven relevant to the issue at hand.

Quote:
But it is a possibility, right?
Of course it's possible, but highly unlikely. I mean really, if this kid was a victim of police harrassment, yadda yadda yadda, then why didn't the initial "white" officer (who has a history with this guy - meaning, he's arrested him before) break pursuit? If he wanted to harrass him or hurt (if not killed) him, he would have continued the pursuit to its conclusion. And since that did not happen, then no, your "possibility" doesn't seem very possible, now does it!

Quote:
And maybe the whole community has been through this kind of ongoing and baseless criminal racial profiling, with racist cops, judges, juries and prosecutors adding pressure to the cooker.
Here is a "possibility" for you. Is it "possible" that these townfolk are merely exaggerating their victimhood status in order to rationalize their failures (e.g., continued poverty status, lack of education, etc.) in order to justify such an emotive explosion as these riots? Of course it is, but I doubt you'll admit to it.

People like you read or hear stories like this where someone is "Crying Wolf" (note, that's SINGULAR as in ONE wolf) and you stand there frantic looking for a pack of wolves. Hence, the exaggeration. Would you like me to cite one case in particular where everyone was foaming at the mouths over one woman's "Cry Wolf" of torture and pain at the hands of alleged would-be racist "white" police officers? Okay...I will, Tawana Brawley.

Quote:
Maybe the kid got scared about being the target of that again. Just maybe, huh?
Maybe, but again, highly unlikely. I'm sure we'll know more about him just as we did Rodney King. I'm sure you were giving the same exact argument back then, didn't you! Yeah...I'm willing to bet you did. And come to find out, you were wrong, it was not possible it most certainly was not a maybe. King was a recidivist as I'm sure this kid who killed himself was too. Anyhow, as the facts of the case and the background of this kid comes out I'm betting he'll be just another Rodney King - a total loser who is out only for himself and blames his arrests, etc. on "whitey."

Quote:
And his death was perceived by his community to be the last straw - their frustrations at being constantly singled out for police persecution with no means of redress?
Singled out!!! Please...give me a freakin break. Did you not read the article and the comment the officer was quoted in the little box? What in the hell do you expect a trained officer to do when he sees an idiot flying by on a motorcycle (which is a missle on wheels) to do!?! Radar the next car going by at 63 and pull him over instead? Please...

Quote:
Maybe? It sure as hell sounds feasible to me.
Ignorance is bliss...and so are a bunch of excuses!

Lestat: Ok, now try responding to the rest of my post. I apologize for making fun of your unoriginality in chosing internet handles.

News flash! The people who benefit from the corrupt government are not the ones who get to decide whether or not the government is corrupt enough to rebel against! Yes, I *AM* comparing BH to the Revolutionary War. Why? Because you're stating your opinion in such absolutes that if you really believed all the stuff you're saying, you should be against the RW too. Or at least the Boston Tea Party (which is probably a better comparison).

So tell me, Lestat/Neo/gulfwar_veteran/DexterJettser/Captain Archer. What is it about race issues that drives you to don at least 5 different guises on a single bulletin board to wriggle past your ban?

Careful, Lestat. You're getting close to having to admit that the past affects the present...

I submit this entire thread, its topics, links, op, and reponses as evidence of the insanity of the our species.

Now I am benefitting from a "corrupt government". This is a classic.
Care to cite any actual proof of this?

So when is Benton Harbor going to sign a Declaration of Independence? Had it been like the RW, they would have gone after the national guard or something, not attacked innocent passers by.

They were protesting taxation without representation. Yes, destruction of someone elses property is still wrong but at least they had a better reason than "BH police actually goes after people breaking the law in our town." And they didn't set houses in Boston ablaze and neither did they attack random people. Also please note that that was 18th century, not 21st century.

How mant straw men can you load into a single paragraph?

If destruction of property is wrong, it's equally wrong regardless of the date or the percieved wrongs. I'm sure the Tories would be reacting to the BTP the exact same way you're reacting to BH now. Taxation without representation? They'd already given us a seat in the house of commons before the BTP!

...or, at a minimum, that it has too much time on its hands coupled with inadequate access to satellite television service...
