Anyone interested in cruises must read the David Foster Wallace essay 'A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again.' It's in a book by the same title. Spot-on, hilarious.

I'd also suggest, if you have to specify a dinner seating time, I'd go with the later seating. I think you may not be quite as rushed to finish eating as if you had the first sitting. Of course, it's more civilized to eat dinner later, anyway. I prefer the somewhat smaller ships, which usually have only one seating and let you sit anywhere you like.
