Default Pentagon War Plan for N. Korea

I guess they're wondering how many wars we can fight before we run out of soldiers or support. Not to mention leaking plans for invasion of a country probably don't sit well with said hostile country.

http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/...ry=north+korea

Quote:
Beijing A senior Pentagon adviser has given details of a war strategy for invading North Korea and toppling its regime within 30 to 60 days, adding muscle to a lobbying campaign by U.S. hawks urging a pre-emptive military strike against Pyongyang's nuclear facilities.

[...]

Military conflict in the Korean peninsula could trigger a catastrophe, not only because of the suspected presence of nuclear bombs in North Korea, but also because of the 11,000 North Korean artillery weapons along the border that could inflict death and destruction on millions of people in the South Korean capital, Seoul, which is within artillery range of the North's guns.

[...]

"We believe the use of air power in such a war would be swifter and more devastating than it was in Iraq," the article said. "We judge that the U.S. and South Korea could defeat North Korea decisively in 30 to 60 days with such a strategy."

Kid: "But daddy, N. Korea doesn't have oil!"

Father: "True, son, but unfortunately it DOES pose a risk to the world."

K: "So then why did we invade Iraq?"

F: "Because it had oil."

K: "I'm confused."

I'm sure this will go over really well with N Korea at the upcoming talks.

The administration won't go to war with North Korea. They have demonstrated the capability to use nukes, and plus, nuclear fallout from bombing the nuclear plants would affect China, South Korea, and Japan, and the US isn't going to risk that.

But does Bush and company really consider themselves part of the US? I wish I had your confidence.

If they didn't have plans for war with North Korea they would be being *SERIOUSLY* lax in doing thier job! I'm sure they have had plans for the last 50 years.

I agree but letting this plan leak at such a crucial time is just stupid, This is just a further illustration of how inept the Bush administration is when it comes to handling foreign affairs.

The people of DPRK would crush any American imperial invasion!

However, currently America only has three free brigades. They could only invade a very small country with such a small number of troops.

The DPRK has 1,100,000 soldiers, 156,000 special forces troops, thousands of aircraft, artillery and special tanks suited to the environment of Korea (specially made to defend against imperialist invasions). They also have chemical weapons that they could fire from the artillery along the boarder. They have thousands of surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles, and several nuclear weapons. If the Empire ever would foolishly decide to attack, Korea would become the imperial army's graveyard! The shiny imperial fleet would rest on the sandy bottom of the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan!

DPRK also has local geopolitics on their side - the Chinese government would never want the entire Korean peninsula to be occupied by the American Empire.

Heh, and currently the Empire is even having a very hard time setting up a pro-US, puppet dictatorship in Iraq. If they ever accomplish that, they will invade Iran and Syria next - the Empire wants complete colonial control of the Middle East.

Victory to all peoples threatened with invasion or occupied by the American jackboot!

What fallout? Bombing a nuclear plant from the exterior would NOT cause any significant fallout problems--you'd really have to try to do it, like hitting it with a MOAB or two. It just isn't set up right for that stuff to happen. Of course, this assuming they did build it in anything other than a shed like the Russians did in Chernobyl.

Wishful thinking.
The best the NK could do is sink a carrier group with a large nuclear weapon.
But it still wouldn't stop the march of events.

Man o man, I hate this.
I would prefer bashing the Yanks, but then along comes someone like you quoting from The Little Red Book, and it's all tragically silly.

Faaaaaaarking hell.

As much as I dislike the USA, at least it isn't starving its native populace or yet using frankly fascist governmental methods -- which is what the NK regime is doing.

Faaaaaaarking hell. I hope things return to normal soon.
After all, I have been officially branded as "Anti-American", and I hate to disappoint; why must you make my life so hard, Krieger ?
