Did anyone see the season finale of Malcolm in the Middle?
They have a new baby, and in order to get free babysitting from the church co-op, the kids are forced to go to bible school. At one point in the episode, Dewey talks to the Sunday School teacher because he doesn't want to go to the classes anymore - among other reasons, they've been making his brother Reese be nice to him, which he finds decidedly creepy. ![]() After the teacher gives Dewey the speech about humans trying to understand god being like ants trying to understand humans, Dewey tells the teacher that spent yesterday in the yard studying the ants and trying to decide which were the good ones and which were the bad ones, but eventually he got bored and started smiting them all. He decided that this must be how god sees humans - even if the ants had been praying to Dewey all day, it wouldn't have made a difference. Therefore, Dewey concludes that we should just live our lives as well as we can, and ignore the god standing over us with a shovel. ![]() anyone know when this episode will be rerun so I can record it and transcribe that speech? Absofuckinglutely priceless. ![]() |

That was a great episode. Much better than the first half where the baby is actually born. I liked the scene where Hal is trying to paint over the creepy picture of Jesus that the church members painted over the babies crib. He couldn't do it, and told Lois they need to hire an atheist handyman.
I'm wondering if they are going to make a running joke about the babies sex next season. They made sure to not use any gender specific terms, and gave it the name "Jamie". |

OH dude, I was so impressed with this episode. I was REALLY impressed that the painting of Jebus they used was so bloody and disturbing, instead of that peaceful, placid, I'm-so-happy-to-be-being-tortured-to-death bullshit you usually see. And Dewey has always been the twisted little genius of the show. I was really REALLY hoping that my born-again best friend, who LOVES this show, was watching last night.

Did you catch the part where Dewey pulls his Dad aside in bible class and points at the cross on the wall and asks "Why is there a big "T" on the wall?"
Priceless! |

At the risk of hijacking this thread, why does Fox has some of the most irreverent shows on tv (The Simpsons, Malcolm, Married with Children - especially the episode where Al Bundy becomes an evangelist for NO MA'AM when the organization becomes a church so they don't have to pay taxes on their beer), yet Fox News has the most right wing "news" in the US?

I think there can only be one answer and that is money. They know that the money is in pushing the envelope on TV and cater to a segment of the population that feels they are somehow being neglected with the news. These two audiences are almost mutually exclusive. Its funny though that none on the right seem to put this whole thing together. They somehow have missed that they same guy owns them both. |

The best part of last night episode has to be when the family claims to be former members of the church in Danville.
Minister: I didn't even know we had a church in Danville? Hal: Well it was bought out......by a strip club. Not toppless! Tassles (makes spinning motion over his nipples with fingers). I was rolling. |

Re. the Fox News conundrum, I've wondered about that often as well...and apparently so has Matt Groening. Did anybody notice a few episodes ago when Fox News was referred to on "The Simpsons" as "Your Voice for Evil"?
