The "Big Bang" is an event, it is not a thing which "evolves". Biological evolution is just that --biological-- meaning it has to do with living things. The universe is not a living thing. Now, if we re-cast this question in a more sensible light: "Where did the universe come from?" I would answer: "It didn't 'come from' anywhere; there was never a point in time when the universe did not exist." Note that this is not the same as saying the universe has existed forever, but I'm afraid that discussion is a little too far out of your reach... It is not a particularly good rephrasing of my original question. Nor did I limit myself to biological evolution. I had hoped to find deeper thinkers here. Anyone else? |

Main Entry: evo.lu.tion Pronunciation: "e-v&-'l-sh&n, "E-v&- Function: noun Etymology: Latin evolution-, evolutio unrolling, from evolvere Date: 1622 1 : one of a set of prescribed movements 2 a : a process of change in a certain direction : UNFOLDING b : the action or an instance of forming and giving something off : EMISSION c (1) : a process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state putting additional qualifiers in, like biological or scientific is sidestepping. Did time exist before the big bang? Maybe, maybe not, but claiming that it did not as fact, and stating that I wsas discussing only biological evelution, then claiming this "discussion is a little too far out of your reach..." Really, I expected better here than a simple minded response far mor limited than my question and a childish dismissal. |

What is the problem with my original phrasing? What part confuses you? And why do you think evolution is limited to biology only? |

Another poorly-worded attempt at the "First Cause" argument? Please tell us, what did your god evolve from?

To answer the question in your title, rather than your first post, life from non-life is described by abiogenesis not evolution. Evolution only describes processes that occur after we have the first self-replicating molecules. For an intro to abiogenesis try the talk origins archive here
