I agree with everybody who says that there's no comparing Judaism to Roman paganism, as Judaism is much more ancient and preceeds Roman paganism by centuries.

Yuri, this king of Salem sounds like he wasn't immune to the aforementioned Amorite god Shalem, either. Note also that David named his sons Absalom and Soloman, which also have such roots.
