Default Was jesus a psychotic

Think about it

He convinced very few he was the God of the hebrews that had the tora because he was not a god..

He broke hebrew law

Yet on the tree in his dying breath he actually believed he was a god.

This jesus should have seen a hebrew psychiatrist.

lots of people think they are god. a few, like alexander the great, come pretty close.

no crime to have a big ego.

Id be more concerned with him saying everyone should follow his orders or die, as per luke 19:27 (at least, I think thats the verse), but thats the statement of any man who would be king.

Funny you should ask this question, as I was just discussing this yesterday with my husband. I do believe that Jesus, if he was indeed a real historical person, was a psychotic. He was obssessed with other worldliness, thought he was god, claimed to perform miracles, claimed he would shortly return from the dead to establish his kingdom and his thought process and message was often contradictory.

He had the same appeal as someone like David Koresh but on a much larger scale in a time when people were more vulnerable to being manipulated by nutjobs, so he must have been quite a charasmatic personality. Ask yourself would anyone accept the claims of a nut like Jesus is he had been born today? I think his following would be very small. Also with all of the great anti-psychotic drugs we have these days, we might have been able to help him. His massive following does help give credibility to the concept of meme theory, doesn't it?

I think that his message was about to die out when none of his promises came about and some greedy, power hungry charlatans realized they could use his appeal as a way to set up the Xian Church, hoping that this religion could be used to control the masses. The Church has taken advantage of the misery of the masses ever since it's devious creation. But, I digress and most of you already knew that.

NO,and to prove your statement all anyone has to do is walk down the street find a christian and tell them you have seen God walking down the street and see what kind of looks you get.

Most of the christians you will meet will give you a funny look like you were psychotics/nuts,but yet they supposed to believe in a jesus where the historical proof is very, very minimal.

Yet without sufficient proof they believe in an ancient god from a book of ancient myths without question.

Whats the difference?None.

I think psychotic is a little harsh as far as an actual, modern definition goes. See:

http://cancerweb.ncl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/omd?psychosis

I do think, if the bible is factual (which I don't think it is) he had a definite neurological disorder. See:

Search for "sharon", click next 3 times. Interesting article/show about seizures.

I think that's definitely a false dilemma fallacy. He could have been Satan...there's no worse crime than for a Jew to turn his back on the law. Jesus could preach love and faith all he wants and sound good and holy, but Yaweh gave the Jews the law to be obeyed-or they could die by being stoned.

What sneakier way for the devil to work his magic than to sound like a nice guy and turn people away from Yaweh's prescribed lifestyle??--being nice and loving Yaweh count for nothing if you're Jewish and don't follow his law...

Actually Mark, the more I read the definition, the more I agree with you...he was psychotic...

Default Atheists

Why are there so many Atheists on this forum. Both in the Religion section and the Political section?
Because Atheists tend to like to mock Jesus and Atheists also like to bash the president.
Is this a common denominator for Atheists?
