Allow me a second to vent my anger.
Okay, slightly better now. So. We had a diversity fair at our high school today. It was a lot of fun, with activities and food and music from all sorts of areas. A great time for everyone involved. I had a ton of fun. Then, after school, what do I see but a huge banner held by some people across the street with the words, "Homo sex is a sin." I actually went over there along with some other people to go try and talk to them. Josie might be able to tell you some of the actual conversation; I can't concentrate well enough right now. Apparently the fact that NHS has a Gay-Straight Alliance constitutes an indoctrination into homosexuality for the youth of Neenah. ![]() What's more, the woman we talked to had brought her son along to pass out pamphlets. I felt so sorry for that little boy. I would that some of our statements had gotten through to him, but that's probably too much to hope for, given the teachings he'll get at home. These people would just <i>not listen[/i] to anything. How on earth are we supposed to deal with them? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: |

Details: after the Diversity Fair on Friday, I emerge from school, to go see my friends before the buses come and lo and behold, a bunch of idiots with a big banner saying, Homo Sex is Sin are standing across the street. So Elanah, a bunch of our friends and I go over to the lady standing on the corner with pamphlets I didnt think to get one so I could laugh (or cringe) at the stupidity of the content, so Im not sure what all was in there.
So a bunch of us head over, the girls with their arms linked, to a) antagonize and b) find out more about them. Elanah and I got over there about last, so a bunch of the girls were already arguing with the lady on the corner. Shes talking about God said this and God said that when I decide to discredit half of her arguments with Im an atheist. Elanah says shes one, too, and the woman then launches into a bunch of things about what studies have shown. Kyle, the only guy to come along with us, counters with the genetics cause homosexuality argument and then I had to catch the bus. Kyle, from what I understand, has an excellent mental file of statistics and other knowledge about homosexuality, so I trust he handled her well. He was, however, still rather irate when I saw him today, so I think she probably couldnt be made to see reason. Im not surprised. What probably got me the most is that these people were videotaping what they were doing, like trying to spoil our high schools day of tolerance was a major accomplishment. I was nothing short of thoroughly disgusted. I still am. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Next time, just ask her:
"Do you eat shellfish?" see Leviticus 11:10-12 |
