Oooh, I see. Jesus is god's masochist, being tortured by God for everyone, even the ones who would never in a million years eat the donut. Because God is sadistic; he'd rather torture one person to death than let each person do their own push-ups in discrete, bearable packages.

Please note, that as in the story with Steve, Jesus didn't have to. Steve was asked every time.
Jesus was not made to do this, Jesus chose this.

So God didn't torture Jesus. Jesus chose this, he saw he had the strength to do it, and did it.

I amazed you have overlooked this part.

Torture is torture. How does the consent of the victim make it any less cruel?

Don't forget, those students that chose to not eat the donut receive a far worse fate than Steve ever did.

If Jesus chose it, then it can't be torture, Jesus is more like a s/m kinda guy.

God said, if you wanna do some good for humanity, these are the terms. You don't have to, but if you really want to do some good that reaches far beyond your eyes and ears, then these are teh terms.
Jesus in a sense tortured himself, because he wanted to do some good.

God didn't make him do it.

So God guilt-tripped Himself?

Pretty weird behavior for a Perfect Individual (even if Tripartate).

cheers,

So what you're saying is Jesus, basically, was an idiot? Because sure as hell, Steve's an idiot in this analogy.

And the professor, and therefore God, is a sadist -- because WHETHER OR NOT "Steve" consented, it was all the professor's idea in the first place.

I think I've seen more incoherent analogies, but not recently.

If I were one of the students, I'd say to Steve "no need to bother" and simply gather up all the uneaten donuts already available.

BTW, I must have missed the verse in the Bible where Jesus consented to this arrangement. "Father, why hast thou forsaken me?" would imply otherwise. This story should have Steve saying "why are you doing this to me?" to the teacher.

LOOK!! IT'S REAL SIMPLE: YOU'RE A DIRTY SINNER AND JESUS H. CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOU!! WHETHER YOU WANTED HIM TO OR NOT! NOW YOU BEST BETTER START SHOWING SOME GOD DAMN RESPECT, YOU UNGRATEFUL BASTERDS!! Let us pray...

Oh God!! Forgive us our sins and yada yada yada. For we are filthy little sinners, all of us. You are SO much better than us, let me tell you! If you challenged us to a game of Crazy 8s, you would win, hands down. Thank you for that time you sent yourself down here to sacrifice yourself to yourself to protect your own creation from your own wrath. That really kicked ass. Amen! Halleluiah!! Holy shit!!
