Default Brackets?

Hi there,

In some verses, brackets are used:
Quote:
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [Matt 6:32]
Quote:
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) [Luke 2:2-4]
What are they for? Were they in the original greek text? Or are are they found only in some of the older manuscripts?

The phrases are in the Greek text. I am not aware of mss. missing them. This is a KJV thing. I don't know why.

best,
Peter Kirby
