I know.... just being a hardass. I am afraid that reading all of this bad grammar and misspellings on the internet is going to dull my skills.

He had a fairly normal American Jewish upbringing. Was very social. Good sense of humor. Gave great lectures. Even had good artistic skills. Helped solve the Challenger disaster mystery. Would drink alcohol, but not an alcoholic or drug user. Won a Nobel Prize. Arguably the smartest physicist.

Very interesting, but I don't think he will be remembered for contributions to the arts. I wonder if he would even consider himself an artist, or a layman who dabbled in the arts.

Ah.. so you are limiting creative genius to only the arts. Not the sciences.

Why would you do that? Are you saying that scientists can't be creative geniuses?

Well this is the media forum, and in the op I said "contributes to the arts" so yes I'm limiting it to the arts.

Ok, fine. But I think you'll be missing out on a whole lot of creative geniuses.

He was perfectly sane as far as I know. He did do some things which you might call 'crazy', like writing backwards but that has nothing to do with his sanity.

I'm not by any means an expert on Shakespeare, but I'm not aware that he had any major mental or alcohol issues. There is a good deal about his life that is not known by anyone. But he was a moderately successful actor, part owner of the Globe theater, and to my knowlege had a reasonably stable marriage (though they did lose a child in infancy.) In fact, because he did seem so ordinary, many people have wondered if he was capable of producing the monumental works for which he is credited.

And they have fora where talking about them is appropriate. My fellow mods would love to have you start threads for them in the appropriate place.
