Default Chick Tracts GET READ!

Jack Chick's web site is full of testimonies (here, here, and here) from people who were supposedly convinced by the Lord through the power of a Chick Tract.

Quote:
My brother and his wife gave me several of your tracts. After reading them, the Holy Spirit convicted me so strongly that I knelt down at the foot of the bed and repented of my sins and confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.
Quote:
I was lost until I found one of your Chick tracts on the ground in a dead-end alley.
Some of these people claim to have never been Christians before, or never even having heard the "how to get saved" story. Are these testimonies just jokes from infidels that Jack Chick failed to pick up on? Does Chick just completely fabricate these "testimonies" for his web site?

Or are there really adult human beings out there that are so weak-minded and gullible as to make such a major decision (converting to Christianity from no religion or a different religion) and accepting such extraordinary claims (and we all know what they are) based on a stupid cartoon they find in a phone booth?

I realize some of these tracts are accompanied by pressure and obnoxious preaching, or other similar factors that make a conversion more likely, but what about the ones that allegedly aren't? Chick brags about how effective his tracts are by themselves - are they really?

Hmmmm, I dunno.

I've read quite a few online, yet I'm still a proud member of the EAC.

I don't know. I would like to think that those testimonies are made up. It would amaze me if some of those testimonies were literally true.

I figure either Chick makes them up to give credibility to his tracts, or the converts are exaggerating their conversion quite a bit. Saying, "Well, I was considering converting the xianity anyway. I found this Chick tract, kicked around the idea a bit, and then decided to accept Jebus," just isn't all that powerful. I imagine some xians are pressured into inventing these fabulous conversion stories of how this one little thing changed their life, and it can change yours too.

Who knows?

I love Chick Tracts!!! The gruesome brutality make for a great comic read. I also get great laughs at the stupidity of them and even my anger is incited at the bigotry. It's like a miniaturized non, technological BAPTIST BOARD!!!

Which woman on this board was converted largely through a Chick Tract but who is now an atheist? It is one who has megaposts.

Oh, found it, it's none other than the esteemed QueenofSwords.

I guess being 16 is enough of an excuse.

Salvation Army day camp at 12 was enough (it was like communist reeducation camp except being christian), I am glad I didn't see Chick tracts until I was about 20.

<snicker>

Really, though, I can't poke too much fun. I was a Catholic when I first discovered Chick tracts and I just as blindly got angry at Chick for what he said against Catholics. I didn't have much of an argument at all--I just followed what felt right at the time.

Jack Chick is a real eye opener. Who would've guessed that Hitler, Stalin and Bill Clinton were all Jesuits? Or that there's a "Black Pope" who masterminds the catholic church from the shadows? Wow.

Don't forget that the Catholics also started Islam.

NowI'm depressed.
