yeah I mean there is a reason those brown people have always been so poor. Brown people just aren't as good as us.

To be fair, August, this is coming from a 'brown' person.
What he's saying is pretty flawed. Most obviously, the US was 'born rich'. At least, it was in a damned good position, with untapped natural resources and vast expanses of land. We have the longest undefended border in the world. Most of our border is coastline. We picked up a huge amount of land and oil from the USSR for cheap, and we made the biggest, most important land purchase in history for pennies. We took part in two world wars, but didn't have them fought on our soil. That's a lot of pretty damned good breaks, stacked on top of having a huge, untouched piece of fertile territory to work with. |

The article is so sparse and lacking in any depth that I don't know how anyone can take it very seriously, no matter what it says. It does seem like a nice little laundry list of excuses and rhetoric for the already-converted to pick up on, but is probably not going to be too persuasive to students of these issues who disagree. That the man who wrote the article is black has no bearing on the strength or weakness of his position. He would be just as wrong headed either way to me, just like, say, Colin Powell can be just as wrong and as entrapped by the establishment as any white man in his position.

This is classic. A highly recognised and decorated economist puts forth an article demonstrating that market economies are the key to building wealth and not socialism or handouts and the liberals here are livid. They can't even blame it on racism since the guy is black! This is precious!!!

But this doesn't nulify Dr. Williams point as it doesn't contradict the success of England, France etc. But it does explain the rise to superpowerhood of the United States. |

Why is it that liberals defending socialism seems so much like the religious defending their sky daddy?
So far the guilt by association and not being black enough win the booby prize, but keep trying I think you'll can even get down and dirtier. |
