Has anyone here taken the blind Pepsi taste test that they used to give in the grocery stores? They used to say that almost all people that took it prefered Pepsi over Coke. I took it and there was no doubt in my head which one was which and I definitely prefer Coke.
BTW/ Why in the world would Pepsi copy Coke and make such a vile substance as vanilla cola? That has to be the absolute worse stuff, and I know of next to no one that has even a tolerance for the stuff. I suppose that if Coke were to come out with Ocra-Cola (as was once a skit on Saturday Night Live), Pepsi would soon follow with a version of its own, only a supposed better one. |

Anyone remember Clear Pepsi? Clear beverage in a clear bottle that absolutely tasted vile. But Pepsi did it first! Coke never bothered. I'm waiting for Coke flavored Pepsi

I can't compare the flavors, but I don't see how anything could be more hideous than Pepsi Blue. I can't remember a time when I didn't finish my beverage until I tried one of those.

And it is funny how Pepsi copied Coke with the Vanilla cola. Pepsi's whole marketing tries to show how they are young, hip, and on the cutting edge, but they always copy Coke. There is a good reason, since Coke is still #1, and any gain in market share is worth it to Pepsi. BTW, I personally really like Vanilla Coke. Its pretty sweet, but not too bad. I tried the Pepsi Vanilla a couple of days ago and it was pretty much like the Coke version, except even sweeter. That seems to be Pepsi's niche, to make products like Coke, but to make them sweeter. |

Pepsi's problem is that Coke is plenty sweet. Only sugar nuts will like Pepsi better. (BTW, Pepsi always seems to taste flat because of the extra sugar.) |

I'm winning the soda wars!
![]() I used to be a Coke drinker, but I can't drink caffeine or anything carbonated without burping and hiccupping all damn day, so I usually stick to water. I don't really mind not drinking soda anyways, since it doesn't taste as good with the corn syrup as it did when I was young (not much does, it seems). My dad, on the other hand, drinks at least 8 Diet Pepsi's a day, somehow. When Berkeley Breathed referred to soda as tasting like "carbonated battery acid" in an old Bloom County strip, I think he must have had Diet Pepsi specifically in mind. Which one was it with the Bob Dole boner ad? So much for that campaign, how many more people cried for brain bleach than went out and bought whatever it was? |
