I spoke to a young woman who said her belief in God helped
her through a traumatic childhood. I don't doubt that it did.
However, I can make a case if she believed in fairies that helped her
survive a traumatic childhood it would be just as real and meaningful to her.
B.F. Skinner the behavioral psychologist in working with
animals found whatever behavior the animal was engaged in
when it was rewarded with food would repeat that behavior
again. ( in fact it would repeat the series of behaviors prior to
the one that got the reward)
Humans aren't any different. Whatever someone prayed for
that came to fruition you can be sure they will engage in that
behavior again.
