I really don't know how Hannity got popular. Rush Limbaugh I get. I don't agree with him on a lot of things but I do believe he's an effective communicator. Hannity though... The guy is just an a-hole. He talks over his guests and literally doesn't know what he is talking about at times.
The best example I can think of is when he had on a guy who's name I can't remember right now. I believe he was an English Lit professor from Texas who was appearing on behalf of commondreams. Somehow the conversation turned to WWII. Hannity started going off about how America had won the war singlehandedly and had made the biggest sacrifices of any nation. His guest then pointed out that the USSR had lost over 30 million people in that conflict while the US had lost a little over 300,000. He also pointed out the Russians had taken the brunt of Nazi Germany's aggression. Hannity then asked the guy "what in the hell are you talking about?" I was truly embarrassed for conservative politics. To think that ignorance of historical facts, talking over people, and being a Catholic apologist can bring one fame and fortune is depressing. |
