I *think* that Jeff Lindsey person has posted here, under the name LDS.
If not, LDS at least threw out a lot of links to that site. I wonder whatever happened to old LDS? He was rather good for a chuckle. |

OK, I followed glassejaculate's link and read the article. The "evidence" is evidence that it was possible for mariners from Asia, especially China, to reach the Americas. And there is some evidence that some migratory and/or exploratory voyages took place. This isn't anything new, National Geographic had a piece on it, last year I believe. But all the possible contacts come from Oceana, China, or India, not the Middle East. And there's no evidence on the site that a Hebrew people came to the Americas circa 600 B.C. There's just evidence that it was possible for that to have happened. Evidence that something is possible is not evidence that it's true.

From Tibet. Where else do you find lamas?
And here I am thinking lamas came from South America. But then, maybe the Lamanites brought them with them from Tibet or something. Who wants woolly countertops in their kitchen anyway? |

If anyone is seriously interested in the authenticity of the Book of Mormon, go to this webpage: <a href="http://www.mazeministry.com/machine/machine.htm" target="_blank">http://www.mazeministry.com/machine/machine.htm</a>
It allows you to see how many changes have been made since the 1830 edition. On the webpage, it says, "at least 4,000 changes have been made to the Book of Mormon; not all of them are minor. Changes include profound doctrinal changes, correction of silly sentence construction, and correction of factual statements." This is interesting since the Book of Mormon is claimed to be "the most perfect book on the face of the earth, singularily without error" by its leaders. If Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, were actually visited by the angel Moroni, as well as God and Jesus both in the flesh, then why would so many changes need to be made... and in a 180 year time span? |

I read some of the Jeff Lindsey summaries on the web. What a piece of rubbish!
For an analysis that shows how Joseph Smith made up Mormonism see: <a href="http://mac-2001.com/philo/crit/MORMON.TXT" target="_blank">http://mac-2001.com/philo/crit/MORMON.TXT</a> (taken from: <a href="http://mac-2001.com/philo/crit/index.html)" target="_blank">http://mac-2001.com/philo/crit/index.html)</a> |
