scombrid, I'm not to sure about NASCAR being Speedway. As I said, I'm not familiar with Speedway but I was under the impression that it was Sprintcars and the like. NASCAR's are nothing like a sprintcar. Tracks don't necessarily classify a car/series. Should Rallycross be considered a Touring car series just because it takes place on a closed circuit instead of an open stage?

I don't know how NASCAR is classified in the States but outside it generally seems to be considered a Touring car series. I think the general rule of thumb is tin-top & circuit = touring car, excepting of course the GT/Sportscar category.

And I'm glad to see rally currently in front, woohoo!

I do SO love Rally.

I want a WRX, so I can install a rollcage, re-port it, and expand the intercooler.....

Hey Dark Jedi, I notice you're in Colorado, do you go to Pikes Peak when it's on by any chance?

WRC. My husband is a fan of Carlos Sainz and Petter Solberg. Me, I wish Nicky Grist and Colin McRae hadn't split up, but oh well. Doesn't Nicky Grist have the niftiest accent?

Or is it just me?

Cool

I only really like the Paris-Dakar rally, but this might simply be because of the scenery, I love to see those bikes, cars and trucks race through the Sahara.

Doh! I voted Speedway but meant NASCAR. Oh well, Sprint cars and those other dirt track races are fun, too. I just discovered Rally this past year, and it seems like a blast, but please, someone tell that Grunholm (sp?) dude to blink already.

BTW, for future reference to our non-US readers, NASCAR, ARCA and similar types of faux-road-cars-on-mostly-oval-tracks series would fit in a category of "Stock Cars" (even though they're no longer stock vehicles).

And where's the love for hydroplanes and those vintage airplanes they race out near Reno, Nevada?

Ah yes, stock cars that's the term that was eluding me. But if you think about it, stock cars just seems to be an American term for touring cars. Just as stock cars are based on production road cars, so are touring cars. The only major difference is that stock racing is predominately on ovals.

Ah hell, who cares. It's not as if I left oval racing out or anything! As it stands, I think my classifications are OK, not perfect but it does the job.

Touring cars (Aussie V8) for me. But that's only since we started hosting the world's best touring car race in Adelaide. When we were hosting the world's best F1 Grand Prix, I was an F1 fan

I drive a Ford

I keep wanting to, but life has consistently gotten in the way.

I get to watch it on TV, knowing it's just a few hours away...
