I cry in agony every time I think that people may look at G. W. Bush as a model christian. He may be a "decent man" as
Wall Harrington declares in his personal experience with Bush, but being a "decent man" does not measure up to being a committed christian for the particular position he happens to live. He supports the capital punishment, happily pollutes the air, Alaska, The Antarctic and seemingly whatever else may still be clean, he goes to war, cuts down social aids and increase the military budget. I surely forget other niceties. I don't get it ![]() So, is there anybody out there that supports G. W. Bush and that also thinks is a "good" christian ? Can he/she explain this to me, please ? ![]() |

A "Good" Christian is an oxymoron, in my opinion, but to be fair, there is no "good" or "evil", just people. I would say, however, that Bush isn't a good president, meaning he doesn't have the skills needed to be a desicion maker.

The Bible supports capital punishment, claims "man has dominion over the whole Earth" and promotes war against those of non-Judaic origin (see Exodus & Numbers, they love this stuff) it also says homosexuals are bad and should be killed, so much for aids research, increaseing the military budget to kill non-Christians is good! I am being a little sarcastic, I support none of this but not because of any religion. BTW many Christians use the Bible in the way I have shown. |

From a Christian standpoint (even though I'm not a Christian) he is destroying God's earth, destroying peace, and ignoring the poor. That rules him out as any kind of angel right there.

The thread asks of what kind of Christian is our President, but does not ask if his devotion or lack of it serves his religion or the nation of which he is supposed to lead.
One cannot know from afar his personal religious beliefs. To judge his faith by his actions makes one quite dependent on ones idea of the mission of a Christian believer. However, seeing our elected (?) President is supposed to represent a varied nation in terms of religious beliefs (and non-belief), I feel that in his public pronouncments he should not proclaim any Christian beliefs at all! Freedom, equal rights, etc., are NOT from the Christian Bible (let's not even get into the Old Testament) but from humanity finding its best means of accomodation. The biggest cynics are those who deny this. |

i do sense a downfall in the air... No No i'm not Clairevoyant ....i can't help but think that somewhere along the line a clever christian, true believing jackass will reach his/her level of hubris ...brittle, crumbling, marcesing... Then gawd forbid all those books about a fallen luzer hung on a cross.
The problem for us is Time and those fricken apostles buffing da cowboy savior .... Butt whatever, i feel a Waterloo comin on ! |

He may well believe that he is a Christian in his own mind, but his actions show no indication that he follows the basic Christian concepts of "Turn the other cheek" and "Love thy neighbour as you love thyself".
This journalist may believe that Bush is a good man. Or he may, as the deeply cynical part of me leans towards, just want to get into the favour of George Bush. |
