I had a friend that had a Charger like that painted a dark purple. It almost looked black. That was a bad ass car. It was beautiful. It looked much better than that Orange hick-mobile.

ultimate atheist,

That car sounds like it was really kick ass. I never did understand why they painted the general lee such an ugly fuckingcolor of orange. not that any orange would have looked particularly good.

Oh, for crying out loud. They jumped the farkin' car over the Missouri River twice an episode and all you can find to complain about is the color of the car?

They jumped the hick-mobile over mud puddles. Only KITT jumped rivers. And buildings and trains and trucks and anything else that they could find to fly over. Ski mode was pretty awesome too.

But Rosco's police car could never make it over the same puddles. You'd think with all the dirty money Boss Hogg was pulling in they could have afforded a faster cop car. But at least the police never got hurt, despite not wearing seat belts. You knew this because after every crash or failed jump, the Duke boys would stop the General Lee, look behind them, and say "They're all right." Considerate, those Duke boys.

Talking I want KITT!!

If I got a real KITT, with artificial intelligence and all, I could even give up my absolute distaste of driving and cars for it!

(I only obtained my driver's licence because my family would have gotten freaking nuts if I hadn't. I've virtually not driven since then. I don't need to, public transport is good in Germany, and less stressfull.)

My high school chemistry teacher, Mr. Francis, claimed to have added this feature to his car during the 50s. You need an old, pre-emission laws car that still has flammables in the exhaust, a spark plug for each tailpipe, and a switch.

You're my friggin hero.

I've been glued to Sci Fi for the Knight Rider reruns. So much goofy fun. So much cheeze.

I was always impressed with how KITT always harped that could not allow harm to come to any human through action or inaction, yet still found it in his programming to powerslide into bad guys with his rear fender.

Asimov had it all wrong, apparently.

Edited to add:

Can anyone tell me why the term, "Super Pursuit Mode" makes me giggle?
