How low does your sense of self-worth have to be to actually *believe* this crap?
It's in the Bible. I believe the Bible.

That’s a good question. I am not saying that we don’t struggle with “God is Love.” But if we search the scriptures, then we can reconcile our view of what that really means. Just because we can’t decide what Love is doesn’t mean that what God says about in the Bible is not understandable. We can understand it if we read the scriptures.

I can only take solace in knowing that there any many Christians who do not believe this. I, like IT, must ask, "how low must one's self-esteem be to buy into this?"
Paul says in Romans 7:24 – “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” Doesn’t sound like He is patting himself on the back for being a great Christian.

Or how about the verse, Jeremiah 17:9 – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it?”

We only find righteousness in God’s eyes through the blood of Jesus. If we were left to our own devices, we would be evil.

Let me see...

"Just because we can't understand it doesn't mean that we can't understand it."

Ah yes. Clear as mud.

A big chunk of the world's population has not accepted the "blood of Jesus" are you saying they are all evil?

Hell I actually *rejected* the "blood of Jesus" when I deconverted.

Am I evil?

Lots of people tell me lots of things about God and Christianity, not all of them compatible, but all of them allegedly inspired by God in some way. How do I know what you're telling me has any relationship to reality?

Do you understand quantum physics? Well you can if you study it. Same applies with the Word of God.

That is not for me to Judge if you, or anyone else, is evil or not. I am just telling you what the Bible says. I believe the Bible. I won't compromise the Gospel even if it makes me uncomfortable and unpopular.

Nice question. All I can offer for an answer is that I am relying on the Bible for the answers and not personal experience. I am just relaying on what the scriptures say.

Now you may ask, “How can I relay on your interpretation of the scriptures.” I suppose you are hopping that I will say, “Because I get holy Goosebumps when I read it.” Or, “I am a biblical scholar and I know the Greek and Hebrew words.” Both of those statements more then likely wouldn’t convince you of anything. One of the reasons why I am on this message board is to talk though the scriptures. I have read the scriptures and now I am testing them. I present my evidence on why I think a certain verse or idea means what I think it means. If I am wrong then I have no choice but to change my view. If I am right, yippee.

This will make me more unpopular I guess. But here is goes.

We are either in God’s camp of Satan’s. There is no in-between. Satan is evil. He hates God and does everything possible to thwart God’s plan. Satan uses some who are in his camp to do evil acts. The others, He just keeps them indifferent to God.

The problem is, most of those who are in Satan’s camp don’t even know it. Some in Satan’s camp may do very good things. They may be humanitarians. Christianity is different then any other religion this way. Good deeds don’t save Christians, only Jesus can. Example: the thief on the cross was saved. Not because of any good works, only because he believed that Jesus was God.

However, God is God and he will not tolerate anyone who doesn’t proclaim Him as God. It was one of the commandments given to Moses. Thou shall not to have any other god’s. Also, Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to – “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'(Mark 12:30 ) So even a humanitarian, as good as they are, if they don’t acknowledge God as God and if they don’t love Him, then they are breaking this commandment and therefore will incur God’s wrath.
