Smile 1st Test Australia v. Bangladesh

Well, tomorrow Aus and Ban have their historic first ever test match. So, the three key questions are:

1) Does anyone think Bangladesh won't be utterly humiliated?

2) Can Australia pull off a first ever one day test match?

3) Will S. Waugh get a hundred?

1) Bangladesh won't win, but what are the bookie's odds on a draw?

2) Those who've suggested a one day win are living in a fantasy land. I assumed David Hookes had actually played test cricket and understood the less than finer points of the game, but I guess that's just a conspiracy of statisticians. To win in one day, Australia would have to either get bowled out or declare inside 50 odd overs, not to mention bowl out the opposition twice rapidly. they may not be that good, but they'll bat for more than half a day. Why on earth would the team want to do that. Channel 9 and CA (ACB) will lose revenue, and the good people of Darwin will be rightly pissed in their first international and first class match. I hope the aussies put in a good 2 day innings, rack up some figures, and play some entertaining cricket, winning by an innings is enough. They can beat them in one day when they get to the one day matches.

3) It'd be nice to see Tugga get a clean sweep, and push a little closer to AB's mark. The only person stopping him is himself.

1) I think black armbands are already being manufactured in Bangladesh for their team's impending slaughter.

2) If the test match lasts more than two days, Bangladesh can walk away with dignity.

3) If McGrath opened the batting, he'd probably make a hundred

. I don't think Waugh will get to bat, but if does he is every chance.

Apparently, the current odds are for Bangladesh to not even reach 125 runs for the test.
To make it a more even contest, Australia should put the bunnies in to bat first if only to give them some international practice.

Well, Bangladesh are 7/87 as I type so 125 for the whole Test isn't looking too shabby.

I think Australia will bat all day tomorrow (plus whatever time they have today) for a total of 600+ and then try to get Bangladesh out for the innings win on Sunday. Langer, hayden and Ponting will be trying to beat their individual top scores (250, 203 and 206 respectively).

Bangladesh are all out for 97. While I'd like to see Waugh have a bat is not likely.

The carnage Hayden and Langer about inflict will not be for the faint hearted.

He'll be kicking himself. I don't think he'll get another chance in this Test.
