Default Catholic Clergy Abuse Scandal

I was listening to NPR's "Morning Edition" this morning and was appalled, though, I must confess, not surprised, to hear a preview of a story about the global scale of Catholic clergy abuse of children. This has the potential to be devestating to the Catholic Church!

Here is the abstract posted on NPR's website:

The priest abuse scandal is an international one, according to a report to be published by the Dallas Morning News. Between 100 and 200 Catholic clergy around the world were moved from country to country after they faced criminal charges or serious allegations of sex offenses against minors, the newspaper's 18-month investigation finds. NPR's Steve Inskeep talks to Dallas Morning News reporter Brooks Egerton.

I'll be sure to read the coverage closely.

Im not surprised. No doubt many abusive priests would look for escape routes through "friends" sympathetic to them or co-conspirators. Actually, 100-200 sounds kinda low to me, I would have thought it would be more.

I read an article by a catholic author who states there is a gay subculture in many seminaries which promotes and protects a variety sexual values inconsistent with church teachings. He's an ultra-conservative so it would be wise to take what he says with a grain of salt:

Quote:
The trouble starts in the seminary, and gross sexual immorality and the protective network formed around that immorality is only one of the major issues that needs to be forthrightly addressed by the shepherds of the Catholic Church, as Goodbye, Good Men reveals. The fact is that many qualified candidates for the priesthood have been turned away for political reasons over the past three decades. Systematic, ideological discrimination has been practiced against seminarians who uphold Catholic teaching on sexuality and other issues; dissenters from Catholic teaching—including teaching on homosexuality—have been rewarded.

Goodbye, Good Men exposes this corruption: the deliberate infiltration of Catholic seminaries by what Andrew Greeley has dubbed the "Lavender Mafia," a clique of homosexual dilettantes, along with an underground of liberal faculty members determined to change the doctrines, disciplines, and mission of the Catholic Church from within. Through the seminaries, liberals have brought a moral meltdown into the Catholic priesthood. If the sex scandals that have rocked the Catholic Church are to end, the individuals responsible for this moral meltdown must be rooted out. Only then will the "dark shadow of suspicion" be removed from "all the other fine priests who perform their ministry with honesty and integrity and often with heroic self-sacrifice."

Well they're saying the majority of the cases were not paedophilia but with post pubescent boys therefore it is homosexual abuse.

If God created everything then he also created the words we use to communicate; if he designed 'child' 'buggering' 'pleasure' 'love', then according to God's succubi, all things nominally apply. But even the word paedophile can be applied to grandmothers; where therefore is the correct word for the pervert who lures children into potentially lethal or damaging situations?
As God created it all, God must surely be familiar with the process; why therefore is there no specific word for such a specific act against children other than 'childlove'?
Reasons 1) There is no God to utter such a horrific word.
2) God, whom we are modelled on, has a secret lust for children and therefore doesn't want the practitioners of his largest fan club from being imprisoned. Such a word could not exist if the crime were to continue over an infinite period otherwise God's perverted design would cease to function as designed.
3) In revealing his divine design for these wonderful fellows, who boldly march into priesthood, he says in their fucked realities 'I love children, I want you to love them too'. Literalism is such a powerful manipulator don't you think?
4) The wankers at the top are so far removed (pissed, fucked, mentally retarded or reminiscing of their own child molesting days) that they can say nothing, in deference to keeping the account books unblemished, unless it came to the number of children harmed, and those would surely be entitled 'secret accounts'. (Even Peter isn't privy to these)
5) Because God created a perverted creed of brothers to keep his secrets.
6.6 recurring- God just created a pile of shit! Or conversely, the educators are still fighting a losing battle against the animal that lies at the heart of every religious creature, and losing the battle against every ignoramous that prays to an empty escapism, whilst they also resist the voices of reason.
