Which Christian-based religion or demonination is the one that most closely believes in t what the Bible says. I mean which religion does the least amount of reinterpretation of the text?

I'm too rusty about the bible and interpretation but what about George Fox and his version of quakerism.
Not the most accurate but the one allowing atheists to wait for the inner light for as long they wanted. Or maybe we just see him in a too romantic light. Nixons version is not what I talk about. |

According to my understanding, Catholicism does not claim to rely exclusively on the Bible for its doctrines, thus allowing the Bible to remain relatively unscathed.

According to anglicans scripture is but one of three supporting legs of the church. The others being reason and tradition. I guess we're out of the running.

The United Pentecostals manage to do a fair job of sticking closely to scripture: they are non-trinitarian and baptize in the name of Jesus. Their justification is Acts 2:38 ("And Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."). The bit about baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost? Easy, the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is Jesus ("I and my Father are one."). Name, singular, get it? They should at least get points for reconciling some contradictions.
They are also very legalistic and try to obey verses about hair, clothing, etc. After all, if God didn't care how you wear your hair, it wouldn't be in the Bible, would it? Of course this is the religion of my father, that I deconverted from...I never had a problem with their ability to read, just their ability to read critically. |

Most accurate in terms of the literal bible?
This one! http://www.landoverbaptist.org/ Most accurate - or to be more precise, least inaccurate - in terms of being at least on nodding terms with reality, we have the Episcopalianism of Spong, and his ilk. David B |

None of them, they're all completely wrong.
I'm not basing this on anything, but considering that the majority will have to be completely wrong anyway it seems like a reasonable bet. |
