Angry Epitome of Arrogance...

Fundies Say the Darndest Things!

They even captured some of my own, like:
Quote:
No, I rather think that atheists believe themselves to very much be above theists....
Guess I wasn't so far off the mark with that comment after all...

And so many contributors from here too...never mind copyrights, it's fair use buddy! So take that!

Everyone who posts very consistently at all in an online chat forum will make questionable, wrong, or even silly statements now and then and atheists are no exception.

Let me rephrase my above statement that is apparently amusing to some:

"I rather think that some, perhaps even many atheists believe themselves to be more intelligent than theists."

By the way, I'm not even a fundy... :banghead:

You've only just now noticed that? You should hang out in the humor folder more often.

And of course, you're welcome to start "atheists say the darndest things."

I don't see why Haran's comment quoted above was worthy of a darndest thing title at all. The attitude he describes is quite common 'round these parts.

But I wouldn't because I realize that real people sometimes post when they are tired or have had bad days... I also wouldn't do it knowing that it would be irritating to the people quoted and then twist the knife a little more by appealing to "fair use laws" as if to stick your tongue out and say "Sorry, but you can't do a thing about it."

If you like, I suppose you can consider this my "Atheists Say and Do the Darndest Things" thread...

Your rephrasing makes your statement kind of pointless.
Since statistically there should be at least 600000 atheists with IQs above 130 in the US alone I'd say there are definitely many atheists who would be perfectly justified when they consider themselves more intelligent than theists. (of course that works the other way around too)
I not only believe myself to be but I am more intelligent than close to 100% of theists. It's a simple fact and not my fault so what exactly are you whining about?

As for your original statement that atheists consider themselves to be very much above theists - we are not the ones who worship someone who promises to torture theists for eternity far worse than one could stand watching a dog being tortured.

You have got to be kidding. Where the heck did you EVER get the assumption that you are smarter than all theists, or the assumption that 600,000 atheists have IQs higher than 130? Could you be more self-centered and arrogant?

Atheism is not a sign of intelligence. Newton was Christian and I sure as heck know you aren't smarter than him.

Well, as an observer, I'ld certainly grant that's what it's turned into.

Thumbs down

Godbert, feel free to provide even the smallest scintilla of evidence for your outlandish assertions in one of the recent threads on intelligence and religion (here and here, for instance). Any further discussions of the subject are not relevant here.

Meanwhile, your post will stand as a prime example of why Haran's statement was not even remotely deserving of a spot on WinAce's site.

Exactly. The main concern is with the belief "my group is more intelligent than their group".
