Default Wind Farms A Dissenting Voice

Will someone please start a petition against building any more of those monstrous wind farms. They are cropping up willy-nilly in the most inappropriate locations and are ruining the peace and tranquility of our countryside, as well as being a complete and utter waste of hard-earned public money. I dont pay taxes to be frittered away by wasteful politicians, I admit. But I have lived in this country all my life, and I can say without any fear of contradiction that the last thing we need is more wind.

Perhaps if they could be switched off while you had your picnic it wouldnt be so bad, but this facility is seldom if ever available to the public. Until then paper plate manufacturers should take the lead and ensure their products are clearly marked Not Suitable for Picnics. And sausage rolls should not be allowed to be sold as Picnic Sausage Rolls unless they have much flatter bottoms.

Also, there should be a special wind shelters built next to wind farms so that picnickers can still enjoy the time-honoured tradition of feeding the wasps.

In the new (February 2004) Scientific American there is a short article about lots of bats being killed by these machines.
Wind farms certainly do not appear to be an ecologically (or economically for that matter) viable way of creating elecytricity wholesale.

I suggested to my local council that wind farms be moved from our beautiful countryside and set up outside curry houses instead. When told that there is a good reason why cows and wind farms are found in the same place, i replied that we ought to move them both nearer to the local curryoakie bar; this would result in less road traffic, too, since the dead cows could be taken in the back door and fed to the punters out front when too many bahjees take their toll on the delicate bovine palate. Moreover, the fields would be left empty and hence free to build roads on, with the obvious added bonus that picnickers could use them to get to the wasps quicker.

My ideas were knocked back because curry houses only serve dog in this part of the world.

I agree, Boro Nut; furthermore, I fail to see what the use is of establishing off-shore wind farms. My father-in-law goes fishing in the North Sea quite a lot, and from what he says it's windy enough out there. That was certainly my impression when I lived in Seaham. If coal was good enough for the Vikings, it's good enough for me.

I don't get this, what good is are sausage rolls if they're not able to roll?

I've never understood how a wind generator is supposed to generate wind anyway. Or why you'd want to.

I can generate plenty of wind, given a bag of dried fruit and a few hours!

The wonderful thing about Boro Nut threads is the fact that they fly so gracefully over so many people's heads.

This page disagrees. At least for small out-of-the-way communities that aren't tied in to the main Grid.
