I still think that the "personality" of Jesus is missing. The idea that a religion is a personality cult is an observation made by outsiders. The cult leader himself usually claims some other sort of authority.

I do claim that Christianity was a personality cult.

I would say so under paul

not jesus

we can only guess that he had a following of 3-4 people at best, as a large group would have starved.

Again, ApostateAbe produces propaganda. Christians of antiquity Vehemently argued their Jesus was God and did NOT have a human father.

The story of Jesus BROKE the supposed universal pattern of ApostateAbe.

Jesus was described as the Son of a Ghost and is Worshiped as a God by Christians.

Moses is NOT worshiped as God by Jews.

Muhammad is NOT worshiped as a God by Muslims.

Joseph Smith is NOT worshiped as a God by Mormons.

Charles Russell is NOT worshiped as a God by Jehovah's Witnesses.

In effect, ApostateAbe completely Mis-leads and Contradicts himself.

ApostateAbe Invents his own "universal pattern" and INVENTS his own human Jesus to fit his invention.

The Jesus character of the Christian religion was NOT claimed to be about a man but about the Son of God, born of a Holy Ghost without a human father.

1. In gMark Jesus was the Son of God the walked on water and transfigured..

2. In gMatthew, Jesus was born of a Ghost and a virgin.

3. In gLuke, Jesus was born of a Ghost and a virgin,

4. In gJohn, Jesus was God the Creator.

5. In Acts, Jesus Ascended to heaven.

6. In the Pauline writings, Jesus was NON-HUMAN and God's own Son.

7. Ignatius in his Epistles claimed Jesus was GOD.

8. Justin Martyr claimed Jesus was produced Without Sexual union.

9. Irenaeus believed Jesus was born of a Ghost and a virgin.

10. Tertullian believed Jesus was born of a Ghost and a virgin.

11. Origen claimed Jesus was God the Creator without a human father.

12. Eusebius claimed Jesus was Divine.

It is total propaganda that there is a universal pattern and that Jesus the Son of a Ghost was a human leader of a cult of Christians.

It is stated Specifically in Acts of the Apostles that it was a Holy Ghost that was the Power behind the Jesus cult of Christians--NOT Jesus.

It was AFTER the disciples were FILLED by the Ghost that the Jesus story was preached.

Acts 2.4
Quote:
--And they were ALL FILLED with the Holy Ghost....
The Jesus story was ALREADY declared to be like the Mythology of the Greeks and Roman 1800 years ago.

The Jesus story FITS the Universal Pattern of Mythology.

First Apology XXI
Quote:
And when we say also that the Word, who is the first-birth of God, was produced without sexual union, and that He, Jesus Christ, our Teacher, was crucified and died, and rose again, and ascended into heaven, we propound nothing different from what you believe regarding those whom you esteem sons of Jupiter.
Dialogue with Trypho
Quote:
....in the fables of those who are called Greeks, it is written that Perseus was begotten of Danae, who was a virgin........

OK, I guess we agree.

Just because Jesus might not have existed does not mean that other religious founders did not exist.

Just a simple case of bias.

So you concede that there is no personality cult involved here? And that you lack the social science expertise to proclaim a universal law of personality based religions vs other religious movements?

I think 12 disciples are plausible enough, but I don't know if there is a well developed argument in favor of the claim that 12 disciples are implausible. It otherwise seems to pass all criteria.

I am not with you on the point that christianity was not a personality cult (doesnt get more preposterous than that actually), but i am with you everywhere else.
