Certainly believing and spreading lies about evolution, geology and paleontology! Doenst matter that he may think what he is spreading is true. It does matter that it isnt, and that no effort was made to determine whether it was true. There is a serious moral issue there. If I had some sort of concern that hellfire might be mine if I misbehaved, i would take a bit to look at the possible consequences of recklessly spreading falsehoods. |

The people of Israel brought the tithe of their increase to The Temple in obedience to The commandments of The Law (and The Law and The sacrifices yet stood)
The requirement was that the tithe be paid in 'The Shekel of The Sanctuary' this was no common coin and was not in general circulation as money (legal tender) but was employed within the sacred precincts. (Look up 'Shekel of The Sanctuary') The job of the 'money changers' was to exchange the common 'worldly' coins being brought in by the pilgrims, for 'Sanctuary shekels' and for providing this 'service' they charged a fee, one that according to the tale, The Nazarene evidently considered too high and thus objectionable, also evidently incensed at -where- this money changing -business- was taking place, so distracting from due reverence and worship. I must add concerning the annual requirement of paying the 'half shekel' Temple tax, this was an exact amount that each Israelite was expected to pay, as such, regardless of what manner of foreign coinage came in, The Temple Shekel set the 'standard' by which all lesser or common coinage was measured, and weighed, thus the exactly 'half shekel' requirement would be an expression of the YHWH's ultimate dominion over all weights and measures, A foreign 'standard' or amount would not do, but must be exchanged for HIS 'standard', which of course holds deeper theological significations. But again, this narrative event took place before the Crucifixion, while The Law was yet in effect and to be obeyed for righteousness sake, and has no immediate connection with the latter Christian practice of collecting for the common welfare and works of The Christian Church. |
