Whites have always been the dominant race in almost every country in the world. Descrimination against whites is almost unheard of. White people do not need equality because they've always been the dominant race. White people are in a position of power over the rest of the world. Therefore, a harmless display of "white pride" could easily be interpreted as being racist.

"Pride" in black pride, gay pride, working class pride etc is synonymous with "not ashamed". It is as if in response to the question "Aren't you ashamed to be X?" the reply is "No, I'm proud to be X". It is merely a rhetorical device, used because the answer "I'm proud to be X" has more force than the technically correct "When it comes to matters of pride or shame my X-ness has precisely no bearing on the situation".

In that sense "White Pride" is meaningless as there are precious few people implying that one should be ashamed to be white - certainly I've never encountered such an implication directed at me.

To me it makes no sense to have pride in something that isn't an accomplishment.

Did you make yourself white? No? Then white pride is stupid.

Did you make yourself black? No? Then black pride is stupid.

It does happen in Canada. The government has jobs specifically mandated for minorities or aboriginals as part of their "equity" hiring. I've have found government jobs that I would be otherwise qualified for, except for the fact that I'm white.

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but in the US "white pride" IS racist. In US history notions of "white pride" or "white power" have always been connected to actions and behaviors of violence and oppression aimed at non-whites.

Actually whites in the US don't need "white pride" they already have white supremacy. The dominant political philosophy of the past 400-500 years and the bedrock of modern civilization.
